The combined library holdings from Latin America and Iberia at the Zimmerman Library of UNM are recognized worldwide as one of the three best in the US, along with those at Bancroft at the University of California, Berkeley and the Benson at the University of Texas, Austin.   This list includes the LASER (Latin America South East Region) member libraries’ combined holdings of Latin American and Caribbean newspapers. A newspaper is listed only where a five-year run of the title is held by any of the libraries, where the title is a current subscription, or where the newspaper has a web : Rachel Stein. The Mexican Incunabula at the Latin American Library () collection represents the Latin American Library’s contribution to a larger project called Impresos Mexicanos del Siglo XVI initiated by a small group of institutions in the United States and Mexico. Offering a “solid education” in a beautiful setting, the University of New Mexico offers “academic excellence through some of the best teachers and tough classes.” Students also cited affordability and excellent scholarships awarded to both instate and out-of-state applicants as a decisive factor in attending UNM.
